Karen Baker is the Senior Director of Grants and Foundation Relations at Johnson College, Scranton. With more than 40 years of grant administration, development, and public relations experience, Karen has worked in higher education, healthcare, and economic development settings throughout her native
Northeastern Pennsylvania. In her current role, Karen is responsible for planning, implementing and managing grant programs from application through execution, compliance, and reporting. She identifies
funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporations to meet the programmatic, student-oriented, and operational needs of Johnson College.
A graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, Karen earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. Besides being a successful grant writer, she is also an award-winning and published author of travel stories and consumer information for seniors.
Community engagement includes serving on Education, Workforce, and Healthcare task forces of The Institute for Public Policy and Economic Development. Karen is also a sustaining member of the Junior League of Scranton. She is passionate about services for young adults with Autism including housing, employment, and social interaction.
