Katie Cibello is an English Language Development (ELD) Specialist at Commonwealth Charter Academy (CCA). In this role, she ensures the ELD department remains compliant with Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) regulations by placing English Learners (ELs) in appropriate English courses to support their language development. She also ensures that families receive school communications in their preferred language. Additionally, Katie coordinates the administration of the annual ACCESS standardized assessment for all EL students across the state.
Outside of her work at CCA, Katie serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Luzerne County, where she advocates for children in the care of Children & Youth Services, ensuring their voices are heard and their best interests are represented.
Before joining CCA, Katie was an Autism and Emotional Support teacher with Charles County Public Schools in Maryland. There, she taught students in grades K–2, focusing on Social Emotional Learning and delivering individualized instruction to meet the diverse needs of her students.
Katie earned her Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Wilkes University in 2022.
